ROBERTSON PARK

Public BBQ

This charming park sits squarely in Mudgee's heart, where the town's civic pride is wonderfully evident. The place manages that rare feat of being both thoroughly practical and genuinely pleasant, mature trees provide blessed shade while the rotunda offers a focal point that actually works. The barbecue facilities are well-maintained, though one suspects they've seen more sausages than a county fair. What strikes you most is the thoughtful attention to detail: clean toilets (always a revelation in country towns), an inclusive playground that considers all children, and even baby change facilities. The weekend farmers market transforms the space entirely, bringing local producers and their wares into a bustling community hub. It's the sort of place where locals genuinely gather, not just pass through, and where travelling families can stretch their legs without feeling like intruders. The flower gardens add unexpected colour, and when those roses bloom, this modest park must be quite the sight. A proper town square that actually serves its community.
